Built in the 15th century, it was prominently featured in the “The Da Vinci Code” book and movie, with filming having taken place on site. Next, stop at Glenkinchie Distillery, a classic lowland distillery, set in an idyllic landscape of rolling barley fields. After a tour of the facility sample a “wee dram” before returning to Edinburgh for a free evening.

St Andrews & NYE Dinner

After breakfast travel a short distance to St Andrews, the “home of golf.” Enjoy a talk, tasting and light lunch in a local brewery and some free time before heading back to Edinburgh for the Hogmanay festivities. In the evening, join your fellow travelers for a New Year’s Eve dinner in the heart of old town at Cannonball Restaurant & Bar. (Take a look for the gunshot lodged high on the wall facing Edinburgh Castle. It’s rumoured to have been fired by Government troops towards Holyrood Palace when Bonnie Prince Charlie was in residence in 1745.) The remainder of the evening is yours to celebrate ringing in the New Year. Celebrate in style by joining in the street party and watching the fireworks.
